化粧直し

内部はそれほど汚れていなかった。基板のホコリを吹き飛ばしてエタノールとブラシで清掃したぐらい。あと、ダイヤルドラム類もエタノールでふき取った。シャシは少々ザラツキ感があったので、これもエタノールと歯ブラシで清掃した。

Facelifts
Inside the unit was relatively clean, what I had to do was only to blow dust on PCBs and brashed it, to wipe dial drums, and to blash inner chassis, by ethanol.

ダイヤルエスカッションもばらしてシンプルグリーンで掃除。
後にシリコンスプレーで光沢を出した。
The dial escutcheon was disassembled and cleaned by Simple Green. Later silicone spray is applied to gain a gloss.

ツマミ類もシンプルグリーンでピカピカに。
The knobs were cleaned by Simple Green as well.

パネルはトイレットペーパを使って洗剤を浸します。リムも同様に。
The front panel was soaked to the solution using toilet roll. Same applied to the rim.

意外としんどかったのがこれ。メインダイヤルの早送りツマミ。
Unexpected hard work for this one. The shaft of the main dial knob.

ピカールを使ってここまで仕上げた。言い出したらキリがないのでこのへんで良しとした。
Finished it using metal polisher - still a room to clean but I'd say it's good enough.

スピーカのメッシュ。ところどころに目立たない窪み（ヤエスロゴの左に線状と下に円状の窪み）。こういうのは実は非常に気になる。
The speaker mesh. Some quiet dents (a bar-shaped one on the left of Yaesu logo, round-shaped one on the below) but enough to annoy me.

柔らかい樹脂製のペンのキャップを使い、裏面から窪みを直す。
Fixed the dents by pressing it back from the rear using a butt of a pen made by soft resin material.

窪みを直そうとするとかえって収拾がつかなくなってドツボにはまるかなとも思っていたが・・・割と簡単に、きれいに直った。
This was a bit dodgy attempt - at first I thought, that it would bog me down by making thing worse and worse ...but it turned out to be unexpectedly straightforward.

リアもピカールで磨いた。 ACコードとMコネの間の不細工な穴は、昔、若気の至りでRFゲインコントロールを付けるためにあけた穴。後でボロ隠しのアルミテープを貼る。
Used metal polisher for the rear as well. The ugly hole between the mains cord and SO239 connector used to accommodate a variohm served as an RF gain control. I'll put a coverup here.

サイドの取っ手はズボラをして黒のマジックでタッチアップ。金具はもちろんピカール。
The carry handle is touched up by black indelible felt-tip pen. The metal ends are burnished using metal polish.

ケースは、若干塗装はがれ等あるものの、許容レベルのため再塗装はせず、例の洗剤できれいにした。十分納得の行くレベル。
The enclosure has some minor scratches but they're all of acceptable level so I did not re-paint but just cleaned using the 'G' solution. It looks good enough now.

ベンチレーションが必要な程発熱する訳でなし、通気孔があってもホコリが入るだけので、塞ぐこととした。ペーパーウエスを両面テープで貼り付ける。
There are ventilation slits on the enclosure but FRG-7 won't go that hot. So I'll block them up to avoid dusts to intrude from here. I'll stick a paper rag using double stick tapes.

ペーパーウエスはペーパーフィルタのようでなかなか感じがいい。ただ、色が黒で無いのが残念。
The paper rag has a texture of paper filter, which fits very well for this purpose, except for the colour. If I had a black one.

組みあがったところ。因みに、エスカッションの化粧ネジは交換。大阪のナニワネジで以前購入した「Fe ナベ 3X6 ポリシール黒」というタイプのモノ。パネルの四隅の化粧ネジは独特の色合いで、どう言うメッキのものか良く分からないので、ピカールで磨いて甦生した。
Finished re-assembling. The decorative screws for the escutcheon are replaced to new ones. These for front panel are of unknown plating one so I re-used them after burnishing by metal polish.
